Mangoes are rich in Beta-Carotene and Vitamin C. A ripe
mango should give slightly when squeezed. Another good picking
trick is to pay attention to the aroma emitting from the
stem. Once you pick a good mango, you need to learn how
to properly cut it. Cut down lengthwise on each side of
the pit. Take each half and cut squares into the flesh but
not through the peel. Once you have a grid cut in the half,
bend the peel back into itself and the squares should be
forced forward. Mangos are actually related to poison ivy
and poison oak, which would explain the allergic reaction
for certain individuals. Mangoes grow in clusters like cherries.
