Grapes are available all year round. To pick good grapes
look closely at the coloring and the stems. The colors should
be fully green or dark according to the variety. The stems
should be firm and appear to still be alive. Dry stems will
coincide with softening of the fruit. Grapes were introduced
to America by Mission Fathers from Mexico in the 18th century.
Grapes will not sweeten after picked from the vine so freshness
is especially important.
